All about Bollywood Dancing

Bollywood is the name of India’s film industry. The films are packed with action, romance, star crossed lovers and of course singing and dancing. The dance numbers sometimes seem more important then the actual film and no film is complete without a few songs and dance numbers. The film makers try their best to make them as catchy and memorable as possible.

For those of you who love to dance or are looking for DVDs to improve fitness you will notice that there are hundreds of different workouts to chose from, ranging from hip hop to yoga to ballet. Bollywood dancing is making a small but significant mark on the fitness DVD market and is becoming a growing trend in fitness and workouts.

The dances are varied just like India. Indian or Bollywood dances have many different mixes, classical Indian movements, western movements, belly dancing, and hip hop. The songs include remixes and are available online or at local markets too. Most of the songs have an eastern/western fusion so you could make out some of the words.

Bollywood workouts are probably more popular then actual step by step instructions on how to perform Indian dancing. The news is not all bad as most of the movements in the workout illustrate some of the moves from Bollywood movies. If you want to learn traditional Indian classical dancing you could find a local Indian teacher but remember most of the classical dances although beautiful will take time to learn. They are very graceful and elegant and well worth learning.
